Duane and I being the farmers that we are decided to cut down some Cedar trees and build some critter (or bunny) shelter.
Attached are pictures of our first attempt. Now mind you, this was all very scientific with the best Engineering minds on the design… Wind was one of the concerns and didn’t want to leave Peter Rabbit without a home in the middle of a storm! We planted center pole and layer it on in a tepee fashion layering the branches much like we did we laying a thatched roof. To add strength we weaved the smaller side branches in and under around the shelter.
I am pleased to say that after recent storms with reported wind gusts of 50mph, the shelter is still standing!
We don't have many taller cedar trees to cut down as they are all pretty small. But we did find some and decided to try and build a shelter from the cut down trees/branches.
