Bird Nesting Boxes

Erected approximately 20 bird nest boxes to attract Eastern Bluebird, Carolina Chickadee and Titmouse birds. The nest boxes are of three different designs (will add some images), each specifically made to attract certain types of birds.

The Eastern Bluebird prefers open grassland and nest boxes were installed approximately 4ft above ground and 100 yards apart. The wooden Carolina Chickadee boxes were place in denser wooded areas and Titmouse boxes on edge of woodland areas (clicking on links will open page showing description of birds along with sample of their identifying calls).

Boxes have easy access doors designed to inspect and clean the boxes with minimal disruption to occupants, so far we have seen welcome activity with nest boxes on woodland area and in wooded area. Unwelcome guests (wasps) though seem to be the norm for the white boxes in the open grassland area – this coming weekend we will be removing these unwelcome guest.
