Summer 2013

Well, summer has come to an end although temperature outside shows no hint of it.

I am pleased with progress made, the land is starting to look much better which means besides my ignorance the work has been paying off. Weeds were far fewer than last two years and we had a decent showing of wildflowers. Trees are looking well as are many new (new to us) species of grass that are showing up – now got to learn how to identify them.

Last year’s pond restoration continues to prove how worthwhile this effort was. Pond has held up well and fish have been breeding like crazy, much to the visiting Heron’s delight – as I am sure the local racoon population!

Turkeys are doing their turkey thing and breeding appears to have been successful – not quite as good as last year but nothing to sneeze at.

Sadly I haven’t see quail for awhile – sad.
