After last years (2012) heavy round of weeds and having thought I learned a little on what’s a ‘wildflower’ vs a ‘weed’ I went and got myself a sprayer for hookup to an ATV. After many tie-downs I got it mounted to our Teryx for some 4×4 action (as we don’t have an ATV).
After research and checking with supplier on suitability I bought some Pronto Big N’ Tuff weed killer which is safe to spray around our established trees (but being careful of overspray on leaves and new growth).
I selectively sprayed with wand around the water tank at bottom of property as there are some flowers coming up and some identified plants (which may turn out to be undesirables but time will tell – guess there’s more to learn!) and then hooked up sprayers to spray around bird sanctuary (to be) area. Teryx with sprayer worked like a charm, going over berms and rocks. Got several acres done in next to no time.
Also sprayed other areas where we had heavy thistle invasion (yup, I used invasion ‘ cause that’s what it felt like) as they were already very visible as a dense mat. Main area focused on for thistles was on our South fence where water pools after Pecan trees.
