Well, looks like hot summer has taken its toll on a lot of the weeds but not on the broomweed and ragweed (at least that’s what I assume they are). While an important part of land restoration I have started mowing these as well before they go into flower and spread millions of seed. The mowing is showing results and the breakdown of mowed weeds together with most welcomed recent rains is starting to form a compost layer on the ground – most welcome indeed. I have purposely left it as late as I can to mow as I wanted all the welcomed wildflowers to fully seed before mowing. At this time of writing we have now mowed more than 10 acres of land, focusing on restoration areas first.
