Bird Sanctuary

Over spring we have been trying to control weeds all across property including the birding designated area.

We are also wanting to plant native trees, grasses and shrubs in this area (concentrated planting) to help attract different species of birds. The chosen area is close (right above) the water tank and is sheltered with a circle of Live Oaks.

There were two old brush piles which we shredded last year (two of fifty two) but there was still a fair amount of debris and rocks. Today, I tackled the piles and merged them into one. Idea is to create a berm to allow us humans a viewing point. It’s a long way to go, but it’s a start. The two piles are merged with a rough shallow ‘c’ shape. Next step is to cover in soil, compact and plant wild flow and grass seed.

Also did some trimming by the water table to remove some pretty nasty weeds.
