Bird Feeders

Climbed into the bird feeders this morning. Cleaning and fixing them up. The Squirrels (we have eyewitness accounts) are pretty tough on the feeders.

The turkey feeder must be allowing water in as there was a shallow layer of ‘mushy’ seed. Didn’t seem to stop the birds though. Cleaned it out and dumped the black gunk (that’s a technical term)

Cleaned out turkey feeder. Feed was damp and looking pretty nasty. Wasn't stopping the birds any but clean is always better

Now, nice and clean with bag of seed and ready to serve:

All clean, bag of seed added and ready to serve!

Also tackled the bird feeders in bird sanctuary (an area where disturbance will be kept to a minimum and bird attracting grasses, trees, shrubs etc will be planted.

Small 'squirrel proof' feeder - Hah, what a joke! I have seen two squirels on this feeder. One bouncing it and the other on ground eating!

Old and battered feeder, but still doing a stellar job. With last round of tweaks, feed is lasting much longer and I think we may be ahead of squirrels for awhile,

2nd large feeder filled up - I don't fill this one to the top as I find it is not as squirrel proof as the other. I need to replace the perspex windows to decrease size of gap where food flows out.
