I’ve been digging out and leveling area on south east side of property near some large Pecan and Live Oak trees in effort to better contain ground water which was running off of property.
I dug out dirt, sloping ground and build a berm to force water to turn and stay on our property and reduce the erosion that was forming due to rapid run-off.
After the early rains (8″ in all) the efforts can be clearly seen. We now have an area more than an acre (unmeasured) of wetlands where we didn’t before and no further sign of erosion. Areas which would be dry by now are sitting under at least an inch of water and plant life is adapting fast – it is obvious that this area was a wetland before and was most probably damaged due to heavy grading.
